A kid. A jacket. A dream.
Stavroupoli, Thessaloniki. A 12-year-old boy finds a lost jacket and, instead of a thank-you, asks for something else: to be taught that strange thing that allows people to move over walls.
He didn’t know then that he was asking for his entire life’s path.
The film "DK: Kinigontas to Oneiro - DK: Chasing the Dream" follows Dimitris Kyrsanidis from the parks of Thessaloniki to the podium of the first World Championship in Tokyo. It is the journey of an athlete who was told his discipline "wasn't a sport." Who snuck into closed gyms because no one would give him space. Who competed with a fractured arm—and won. Who took his first steps in abandoned parks, amidst mud and rain. He won the first official parkour world championship in Tokyo, the Red Bull Art of Motion in Santorini twice, as well as the Air Wipp Challenge in Sweden and the Freestyle Competition in Hiroshima.
But above all, it is the story of what remains when the lights go out. Faith. Dedication. Family. Alexandra. Little Arsenis, learning how to land properly. The gym he created for the 200 children who are following in his footsteps.
Because competitions come to an end. The dream has only just begun.
